Dr. Unger received a Bachelor of Arts from Wesleyan University, Middletown, Connecticut in 1981 and his Medical Degree from Harvard Medical School in 1986. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine in 1988 at New York Hospital, Cornell Medical Center. In 1992 he completed his fellowship in Medical Oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts. One year of this fellowship was devoted to bone marrow transplant study.
Dr. Unger became a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1989, was board certified in Medical Oncology in 1991 and board certified in Hematology in 1992. He spent two years on staff at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center before joining CVHO in 1994. He currently holds a position as Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Vermont.
Dr. Unger is on the Board of The Northern New England Clinical Oncology Society and is on the medical staff at the University of Vermont Medical Center, Porter Hospital and Northwestern Medical Center.
